The Education Concept Of Education - 1746 Words

Education is the key to success, or so it is set out to be. People among all social status will correlate a â€Å"good education† with success. For the disadvantaged it is seen as an opportunity to climb the social ladder. Among the upper class, a quality education is still a priority, with young people following legacies. Nowadays, a high school diploma is a basic necessity for even a middle-class job. However, what constitutes of a quality education is disputable. Within the system itself there is debate among educators over which tactics offer the most benefit to the most students. In â€Å"The Banking Concept of Education,† Freire offers a critical perspective of the widespread Banking Method. â€Å"The Achievement of Desire† details Richard Rodriguez s experience as a product of the same system. After comparing both articles, it becomes apparent that modifications are in order to provide better education. While the Banking Concept has been satisfactory in of fering basic education, efficiency in reaching out to students can be improved. Schools need a reformed program that addresses the realistically diverse student body and produces well-rounded thinkers that will thrive outside of a typical classroom setting.
